Beauty is only seen when you understand the nature of it.
Introduction
During my senior year I was tasked with creating a project of my choice. I chose to focus my topic on 20 year women who go to the gym. I created a zine that not only represented different body types but explained the reasoning as to why everyone bodies form differently.
Beginning.
One of my first renderings for this project focused on the imagery I wanted the zine to have. Our bodies are from nature and one of the most beautiful aspects of life is nature itself. This was a little too busy without other elements so I tried different variations to see what would work best.
I was struggling on finding the right style for the vines so I focused on the imagery that allowed that depicted the content.
Make it stand out.
I didn’t want my work to blend in with others so I felt it was important that every that the designs complimented the content. I speak about my own intimate and darker struggles with my body, but I didn’t want the imagery to push it further into a depressive theme. The struggles I deal with are normal and how we develop isn’t something we should be ashamed of. Challenging not only my own design skills and perspective is what I tried to accomplish.
Exhibition.
Although we have all year to work on our projects the final task to tackle is the showcase of our projects. It is our responsibility to make our project, create the identity of the show and create the a display for our work. Our time was minimal, but lead to a very successful showing.
